Busy week!

This week I have been really busy, so I haven’t had time to come on the computer. So get ready for a nice and long update =]

On Monday I had school like usual. Mondays are my favorite days because I have two hours of English in the morning and I get out at 12:05, which is earlier than all the other days. After school I came home and had lunch, and then my host mother and I went to the language school that I was supposed to go to. The class I was signed up for didn’t work out, because not enough people were signed up. So we signed me up for the next level up, which I attended on Monday night. It was too hard for me, so I decided not to take the class. Since I don’t get an extra language tutor, I need to start trying a lot harder. My host family has been testing me on vocabulary. We have post-it notes with the German meaning of everything all over the house. When we go places, they point something out and I have to tell them how to say it in German. If I don’t know, they tell me and then ask me again later. I forget a lot, but that’s okay because my family is very patient with me.

Tuesday night I went to the movies with my host mother’s cousin, Julia. She goes to my school, but this was the first time I met her because she is a year older than me. We saw Disturbia with one of her friends. I already saw Disturbia many times in the USA, so it wasn’t hard for me to understand. They have all the American movies here, but they just come out in theaters a lot later. Oh yeah, and you have assigned seats when you go to the movies. I thought that was weird. But the chairs were soooo comfertable! After the movie, Julia and I went to some boy’s house to play pool. There were about 6 boys, and then Julia and me. One of the boys was Julia's brother, and one of them is in my class. The boy whose house it was spoke fluent English because he was in Canada for a year. He was really cool and he was helping me with my German. He was the first kid I met here that could speak fluent in both languages. It was easier to talk to him because if I don’t know how to say something in German, I can ask him how to say it in English. I don’t like speaking English to the other kids because they don’t always understand me, and they probably get annoyed. But this boy loved to speak English, and he could understand me when I talk fast, so I felt comfertable talking to him. That night was the first night that I actually could act myself without Courtney. Usually if Courtney isn’t there with me, I am shy and embarrassed. My host parents picked me up at 11:00 and I went to sleep when I got home.

Wednesday I had no school, because it was some kind of German holiday. I had to wake up early anyway, because we went to a town called Villingen for the day. It was about 2 hours away. I went with my host parents, two of my host brothers, and another couple that are friends with my host parents. First we went to a castle called Burg Hohenzollern. It was beautiful; there are pictures of it at the bottom of the post. We had to walk up to the castle on a really long trail that was uphill the whole way. It wasn’t that bad though because I was eating pretzels and not really thinking about the walking I was doing haha. After the castle, the boys went to a soccer game. That is the main reason we went there. Ulm (my city) was playing Villingen and Ulm won 1-0!! MY host mother, her friend and I looked around the town and went out to ice cream. When the boys were done with the game, they met us at a pizza restaurant. We had pizza, and they taught me all the German words for everything on the table. I only remember a few though. On the way home I feel asleep and it was only 7:30. We got home at about 9:00 but I didn’t get to sleep until about 11, because the friends stayed a while and talked. Then I had to wake up so early to shower for school today. ahhhh!

Now I will give you all a little German lesson, because that is what my Aunt Lisa wants! I am going to take some random words out of my post and tell you how to say them in German.
